Everyone there was kind, professional and efficient. I scheduled the wrong kind of appointment and they still squeezed me in to see the hygienist. It’s such a relief to find such a high quality dentist office.

PLEASE DO NOT TAKE YOUR CHILDREN HERE. Dr. Mathias is not a pediatric dentist and from personal experience, he does not have the bedside manner to be one. However, his dental assistant, Alyssa, is so amazing with kids and we miss her a lot.

This incident happened 6/2023, but I am making an official review now because it still upsets me. For background, I am an anesthesiologist and provide general anesthesia for pediatric dental rehabilitation so I know what is good patient care and what is not.

Dr. Mathias and I had a 30 minute phone conversation in preparation for my 6yo son’s cavity filling. I asked him specifically if he felt comfortable doing pediatric dental work because he often refers kids to Dr. Matthews, a local pediatric dentist (who I often work with at the hospital). Dr. Mathias insisted he was comfortable caring for children, and all my son would need is local anesthesia for the procedure. My son loves going to the dentist and is very cooperative. He lets them take X-rays and scrape his teeth without any resistance. My 6yo tolerated the needle injection of local anesthesia, but unfortunately, he did not understand the sensation of being numb. He was crying and said he felt like he could not breathe. Dr. Mathias responded with frustration, saying he only had one hour scheduled for this appointment. He threatened to take me out of the room if my son didn’t start cooperating, leaving my son alone with just himself and the dental assistant (not Alyssa for this procedure). Dr. Mathias threw his dental instruments down on his tray and stormed out the room, only to return a minute later and whisper to my son, “just so you know, you’re not leaving here with a hole in your tooth.” He then stormed back out. The filling still needed to be completed, and I held my son until he calmed down enough for them to do the filling. When it was done, we left in tears. Dr. Mathias said nothing to us as we walked out. I called immediately after to have our records transferred to Dr. Matthews.

When Dr Matthias suggested I needed a nightguard I was initially reluctant because of the cost…. Well , I ended up taking his advice and it was the absolute best purchase I ever made! I LOVE it and it has made such a difference in my sleep and overall wellbeing of my teeth!!!

It was an incredible first visit with Dr Matthias and his team. All the staff and assistants are kind, caring and looked out for me knowing the fact I am scared of the environment. I was there with my friend Matty to get a tooth pulled. Matty is terrified of dentists with some persuasion from myself and Dr. Matthias we were able to get Matty into the chair. Dr. Matthias was wonderful so patient and caring he did all he could to make Matty feel comfortable. He even let me say by Matty's side the whole time to help Matty through the procedure. By the time it was done Matty was so grateful he thanked Dr. Matthias for being so understanding. I will defiantly return to this dentist, and I am even thinking of making him my regular dentist. Matty has another tooth that needs pulled and I will be giving Your Dentistry Today a call real soon.
